The Posies 20th Anniversary Shows @ Neumos

The Posies, one of the all-time great Seattle power pop bands, are celebrating their 20th Anniversary with two shows this Saturday night at Neumos. Here’s a note from Jon Auer explaining what’s happening:
The Posies 20th Anniversary Shows @ Neumos (full band!) 2nd Show added! The first show is sold out.
If you have tickets and you want to see DJL and Preston the bands start at 7:30 sharp doors are at 7PM!

They just added a second show and tickets are selling fast! Doors for show #2 on the same evening are at 11:10. No openers.

See you there!

The Posies are incredible musicians, great songwriters, they sing the most amazing harmonies, they’re pretty damned funny and quite entertaining too. The last time I saw The Posies, Ken Stringfellow ended up stripping to his briefs while Jon tossed his guitar into the audience – they also played a ton of great songs.

New Jon Auer videos

Michelle Auer does some really cool videos for many of Jon's songs. Many of them are stick-figure-ish-animated, very cute and often emotionally effective. That's true of this first one for "Four Letter Word."

She also did one recently that isn't animated. It's for the song "Bottom of the Bottle," and here's what Michelle had to say about it: I used the whole process of putting on make-up as the backdrop for this song because putting on that pretty mask even if things are messed up conveys that same idea of sadness/being lost to me. Wouldn't it be interesting if we always looked how we felt?

New Jon Auer video (and testing the new template)

So, it's convenient enough that I needed to test the new template's ability to embed You Tube videos and at the same time Jon Auer has released, in his words, "a new video to an old song" done by his wife Michelle. Enjoy (hopefully... assuming the blog is working!). It's a pretty cool video with some familiar faces.

Jon Auer music video

Jon Auer just released a video for his song "Angelita" from the Songs From the Year of Our Demise album. The video is essentially stick figure drawings and doodles done by Jon's wife Michelle. But, it does a really cute job of telling a story.

Jon is playing on Wednesday at the Crocodile (with Central Services)

Jon Auer performance clip

I'm going to try to post this again... it didn't work earlier.

Here's a performance of the Big Star tune "thirteen" by Jon Auer, taken just a few days ago (Dec. 1) in London from youtube user, Gordo73.

And if it never loads (which seems to be a problem...), you can see it here instead.

Jon Auer live at a church...

This just came through the Dear23 email list and I thought it was a very nice performance of the tune "Six Feet Under." I also appreciate the sheer "rock-n-roll" of the fact that Jon both flips the bird and perhaps says "motherf***er" in what appears to be a church. :)
