Big ol' SPB announcement

You may or may not have noticed a subtle change to SPB last week. Namely, one Mr. Andy Miracle is now blogging directly to SPB. Andy has contributed in the past, so it's cool to bring him directly into the fold, which will allow him to post any time he wants to.

It is that note that brings me to the "big ol' SPB announcement" promised in this post's subject line.

Namely, I'm moving back to the East Coast.

There are a lot of things going on in life that demand a closer proximity to my and my wife's families. So, this week we're putting our house on the market (and taping an episode of HGTV's "My House Is Worth What?"... I'll have to tell you all about it after we tape the show tomorrow) and once it sells, we'll be off.

But, fret not. Rather than let SPB die, I'm turning over the reins to the aforementioned Mr. Andy Miracle. So, we'll probably have a few months of the both of us blogging, and it will then transition over to Andy when I'm gone. So, I won't say "bye" just yet.

I know Andy will do an amazing job when he's on his own, but I don't think fans of Seattle Powerpop have a better friend and advocate than Gary. He has given attention to countless bands that otherwise might not get heard. He's a great writer and a hell of a guy.

I'll miss Gary more than I miss the Crocodile (and I miss that an awful lot). Let's hope for a huge going away bash with the Tripwires and Young Sportsmen and Shake Some Action!.

Good luck to you and your wife. Seattle music will miss your unique voice and unbiased take on the local scene. I hope you find a way to continue to follow and comment upon our local music and indeed, spread the word to the peeps in your new locale. Thanks for the illuminating prose these past years.

Chris and anonymous,

Thanks to you both for the kind words. I can't imagine anyone missing me more than the Croc! That's crazy talk! :)

I'm going to do my best to keep blogging away until we're gone, and I'll stay in touch thereafter. Thankfully our house goes on the market in two days, and that's going to free me up quite a bit for such things.

That Gary is fine people. I went from a SPB blog fan, to an acquaintance, to a fellow band mate, to an ex-band mate, and now, hopefully, a bit of a friend.

Our meetings may be few and far between, but I look forward to your musings daily and will miss you when you are gone.
