I got a note from the band formerly known as Boycrush. They are now known as Quadrillion. They didn't really tell me why the name change happened, or why they picked Quadrillion. Personally, the name Quadrillion reminds me a bit too much of another band.
But, in order to really learn what it means or what it's all about, you can simply ask them at their show at the Monkey Pub (5305 Roosevelt Way NE) on Saturday night.

BoyCrush calls it quits... maybe?
This just came through myspace. They say it's the last BoyCrush live show. But, the "special announcement" bit might imply it's more like a name change or a new band offshoot.
Hello Friends...
Unfortunately this Friday (8/10/07) will mark the last BoyCrush live show. Come on out for some fun at the Funhouse in Seattle. We're playing with some great garage-rock-underground-punk bands...Chelsea Speed Party, Knives in the Attic, and Screamin' Cyn Cyn and the Pons. We do have a special announcement that will be well worth coming out for. Hope to see you all there. Cheers!

Photos: Conservative Dad and Boycrush
While I was over at the Sunset on Saturday, The Lund Bros, Boycrush and Conservative Dad were at the Skylark. Gwon, the bassist for Lund Bros, sent me some photos that he snapped with his cell phone. He also posted his thoughts on the show over on his personal blog. So, you can head there to have a read and to see a few other photos.

Powerpop bands make my life hard...
I just found out that The Nice Boys, The Small Change and Buffalo Killers are playing at the Sunset Tavern on Saturday (5/5). Now that's a great line up of great bands.
But, then I remembered that Lund Bros, Boy Crush and Conservative Dad are playing over at the Skylark, and I've been wanting to see those guys, too.
So, I'm left with the conundrum of which show to attend.
Here's some video from Buffalo Killers, by the way:

Boycrush & The Little Heroes @ Comet tonight (11/9)
Down at ye ol' Comet Tavern tonight (thursday, 11/9) you will find Boycrush (locals) and The Little Heroes (from California).
Thusfar, the recordings I've heard from Boycrush haven't blown me away. But, any band that lists The Jam, The Clash, Elvis Costello and The Kinks as influences is barking up my tree.
